Image Over Ability
Reality television sends out many message to viewers, especially to young viewers.
Noneducational messages that persuade viewers into believing a education is not necessary
in life.Messages such as competition, educational and image over ability.
In the essay "The dangers of Reality TV"written by Timothy Sexton he states reality TV
is a danger to viewers.I strongly agree with him for many reasons.
One of those reasons are image,it can give someone a perspective look without having
the ability of the image presenting. In the essay the author states
"The key to success is image rather than ability"
Someone image can give another person a different outlook about the person without knowing them.
Meaning someone who wears expensive suits to work, might convince a person that he is a
businessman. In reality the person is not who is image is presenting. This is where the person
could have image but not ability.
Many reality shows would rather have someone with image rather than ability.
It makes it more interesting therefore more people would watch the show.
It is also giving a message that education is not needed when you have image of something or someone instead of ability or someone successful.I believe image is more easier to achieve than
ability.Today most people would rather have image than ability.
